Israel: Day 1 & 2

We recently returned from a 10 day trip to Israel with our church.  It was definitely a “bucket list” trip and we are so glad we went! For memory sake… here we go with the recap!

Day 1 (March 8th):  Travel!  Two plane rides and approx 14 hours of flight time found us in Tel Aviv.

Day 2 (March 9th): Our group of 45 was picked up at the airport by our guide and bus driver and taken to the port city of Joppa.

We enjoyed our first taste of falafel and got our first glimpse of the Mediterranean Sea…

Joppa is where Solomon would have imported cedar from Lebanon to build the temple and where Jonah was swallowed by the big fish (Jonah 1:3)

and the home of Simon the Tanner (Acts 10)   Our guide spent some time explaining to us about sites being “tradition” vs “actual”.  We figured if it looks like it was written in marker it is probably “tradition”…

We stayed at a hotel that was on the Mediterranean Sea, so I drug Mr G along to touch the water before we crashed for the evening. And we crashed hard!
