Wedding Shower & a Recipe

Mom, Jamie, and I had the privilege of hosting a wedding shower for our friend Ashley (and Kyle) yesterday. Without going into detail, Kyle has been a dear, dear friend and we couldn’t be more excited about Ashley and Kyle getting married (we have been around since the early days of dating… they starting dating the same summer that Mr. G and I started dating… big happy sighs).   Here are a few pictures:

marinated cheese

We had a great time and can’t wait till January to celebrate some more!  And let me explain the above picture – its marinated cheese!  It may sound odd, but trust me – it is delicious.  There was none left and Mr. G was very sad he didn’t get to bat cleanup on that one!  We got the recipe from Mrs. Rhonda when she made it for one of my wedding showers… Try it if you ever need a new appetizer!

Marinated Cheese

¼ Cup Olive oil

¼ Cup white wine vinegar

1-2oz. jar diced pimentos, drained

3 T. fresh parsley, chopped

3 T. minced green onions

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp. sugar

¾ tsp. dried basil (or Italian seasoning)

½ tsp. salt

½ tsp. freshly ground black pepper

1-8 oz. block of cheddar cheese

1-8 oz block cream cheese

Wish all the ingredients together except cheeses. Cut cheeses down the middle and slice into ¼ inch squares (easier to cut cream cheese if it is placed in the freezer first). In a shallow dish, alternate cheese in rows and pour marinade over the cheese. Refrigerate overnight. Serve with wheat thins or your favorite crackers.

  1. yummmmy! Mr. G – I was clean up on that dish 🙂

  2. I agree
