1 year!

Today is our first wedding anniversary!!  Wahoo!!!  In honor of that, here is my “official” list of what I have learned in my first year of marriage (along with pictures from the past year, of course)!  Many, many thanks to all our friends and family who have wished us a “Happy Anniversary” the past few days (even the card that made me cry).  And especially thanks to all of you for praying for us over the past year – we appreciate them (and keep ’em coming!).

It really is possible to love someone more today than I did yesterday

Truly pick your battles – sometimes you are really just hungry or tired and everything looks better after you sleep or eat something (or do both).

Sometimes needing a hug is a battle worth picking!

Two are better than one! Except when it comes to handling stress – then it’s like there are really 4 of you dealing with stress… you, your spouse, and then you worrying about your spouse and your spouse worrying about you!

Chocolate, French fries, hugs can really fix most of a females problems.  True, it’s cliché, but we are learning that this is not an easy lesson for men to learn.

Always, always check the laundry for ink pens… No matter what miracle product is out there – ink does not really come out of clothing – in fact, it smears and makes a bigger spot. It does make for good “newlywed stories”

I am very blessed to be married to a man who thinks it is okay to eat cereal or peanut butter & honey sandwiches… for every.single.meal.

I liked your friends & family when we were dating. I love your friends & family now that we are married.  They shaped you into who you are today and they have pulled me into their lives with no questions and open arms. And I know they know you well enough not to believe all your “newlywed stories”.

I’ve always said “Love is a verb”. Now I more specifically think Love = respect (much better if sung “R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me….”).  Sure, respect is technically a noun but I think it is a good way to summarize the actions behind love.

Happy anniversary, Mr. G!!  I love you and look forward to the next year(s)!
